Garden Walk Grant Application
The Bay City Garden Club was started in 1927. Over the years, we have promoted interest and participation in civic beautification. Some of our landscaping projects include plantings at the General Hospital court, Bay Medical Care Facility, the YWCA terrace, Historical Museum of Bay County and the Veterans Memorial Bridge approach. At the Bay City State Park, the Chickadee Trail for the handicapped was developed by the club and the educational equipment was given for the park's interpretive programs.
Starting in 2002 the club has hosted a series of Garden Walks, with the profits benefiting the Reading Garden at the Bay County Wirt Library, Good Samaritan Rescue Mission, Habitat for Humanity, Disability Resource Center and the Veteran's Memorials at Vet's Park.
Garden Walk proceeds are given to non-profit organizations and other civic organizations that enhance their landscaping. The proceeds are for the purchase of plant material to offset the expense of landscape design.
